Last night I convinced Katie to go see Evan Almighty with me. She doesn't typically enjoy going to the movies. Well, we both enjoyed it. It was hard not to think "Michael Scott" the entire time. I was expecting it to be really cheesy, but instead it was only slightly cheesy. I liked the original, Bruce Almighty, and I thought this one was better.

Thanks to Matt, I have been playing some Desktop Defender lately. It reminds me of the WC3 Tower Denfense map. If you decide to give it a try, make sure to add your scores to the stl group.

This past weekend, Mcneal and Thomack came in town and I invited some other guys from the area and we had a mini-lan party. The weekend was filled with Wii Sports, Guitar Hero, and Silverfall. The latter is a RPG for the PC that seems as if it had potential and they released it before they finished polishing. It still brought us several hours of entertainment.

The reason the guys came in to was to go to the Cards-Royals game last night. Unfortunately for him, Jeremy is a Royals fan. Unfortunately for me, the Cardinals lost last night. It is amazing how ownership can make the hoards of money they have the last couple of years and put out the pitching rotation they have this year. On top of that, the Cardinals have had a rash of injuries all year long. It has not been good to be a Cardinal fan.

The boys of Branson are headed up this evening to spend some time up in my neck of the woods. I was down there last weekend for a trout fishing tournament, which was great fun. It did rain on us the first 2 days of fishing, but I still managed to catch my limit on tournament day. On Sunday, it was great weather and many of us went out fly fishing. Being my first time, it was rough getting used to the casting style. After I got it down, I had a blast. Although it may be an expensive hobby, I already plan on getting my own fly rod and going often. I already told my brother in Alaska I'll be coming up there to fly fish for Salmon.

So not much else going on, other than my Cardinals sucking. They are headed to Chicago now, who has owned them the last couple of seasons. Despite their bad play, I wore my Cardinals polo to work today that I got at Easter. Maybe the Cards will have a 15 game losing streak this season and still go on to win the World Series. HAH!

Well, it is only 4 days from opening day. I'll be at Busch with my Carpenter jersey on, rooting for the World Champion Cardinals on Sunday. It has been a long time since I have been to an opening day game. Actually, I'm not sure I have ever been. It should be a blast! I'll be there again on Tuesday when they have the ring ceremony. I've got 25 tickets spread across about 15 games this year.

I have been working on my kitchen floor for the last couple of weeks. We ripped up the vinyl and put down a tile floor. I should be finished after tonight. The only thing left is to rip some of the trim since the tile is a bit higher than the vinyl was. I'll load up some pictures once I'm all done.

Seeing as it is my birthday and all... could someone get me one of these?

January 26, 2007

Yeah, so I've been busy... work has been busy. The holidays were great, as always. I enjoy spending time with my family... after all, we all should. If I get time this weekend, I'll try throwing some new pictures up on the site. I haven't updated that in a LONG time. I have many pictures from throughout the holidays.

I just got my video card back in the mail today after a long delay. I woke up one morning about 3 weeks ago and there was an electrical burning smell coming from the computer room (NEVER a good sign). My computer was off, which means it was something to do with that since I always leave it on. I open it up and there is a nice black burn mark on the video card. Considering I paid about $350 for it, I began to panic. Luckily, there was a 3-year warranty on the bad boy and I just had to send it in. I actually attempted playing CSS with a 5200 and it was plain awful.

Since I've been busy lately and my site really neeeded an update, I'm pulling another quote out:

  • T. Bubba Bechtol, part time City Councilman from Midland , TX , was
asked on a local live radio talk show the other day just what he thought
of the allegations of torture of the Iraqi prisoners His reply prompted his
ejection from the studio, but to thunderous applause from the audience.

"If hooking up an Iraqi prisoner's scrotum to a car's battery cables will
save one American GI's life, then I have just two things to say":

    1. "Red is positive"
    2. "Black is negative"

Today's post comes directly from my father:

Dear Friends in Christ,

It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the death of my Father-In-law, Wayne Stephenson. The Lord took him home at 2:15 a.m. this morning. He will be greatly missed, and yet we rejoice in his life here on earth and the blessing it was to be a part of it. What great memories, and stories that will be told for a long time. As the family gathers to celebrate his life and his journey home, please pray for them. He is now back with Josephine, his wife, in heaven.

Funeral arrangements are not complete, but it looks like the wake will take place on Sunday November 12th, and the Funeral Mass on Monday November 13th in Georgetown, IL. at St. Isaac Joques parish. The parish Wayne and Josephine called home and the one that helped them raise their children in the faith. His last remaining member of his family is his sister, Evelyn, who lives in Georgetown, and has not been told because of her health condition. Please pray for that situation.

By the request of the family, Kay and her sisters and brothers, Memorials in the name of Wayne Stephenson can be sent to Kay Reiter 537 WESTWOODS PLACE, FESTUS, Mo. 63028, Donations in his name can be made to St. Isaac Joques Parish, Birthright, or to one of your own choosing.

Thank you for your prayer support, kind words of support, and cards that have come in. We are truly blessed to have such an extended family for support.

The 6th Annual November LAN Party is less than 2 weeks away. It looks like we will be playing a mixture of old and new games. We have decided to move it up to Creve Cour in light of my Grandpa's struggles. He hasn't been doing well lately. If he does pass in the next couple weeks, it will be a good thing not to have to worry about 20 guys at my house.

Yesterday, Missouri voters decided to show how stupid they are. I'm not sure they even realize what they are voting for. I'm sure part of it is how deceptive they make the ammendments on the ballot. 75% of voters approved a 26% minimum wage increase. Ok, that might work out. But, did they realize it also approved the minimum wage to be increased EVERY year based on inflation? Thats just going to cause even more inflation. Just think about the effect that will have on businesses. Have fun paying more for EVERYTHING.

My personal beef is Amemndment 2. I don't get into religious or political things much, but this one is really depressing me. The lives that will be wasted for this "research" that hasn't had any success for 15 years in California is assinine. And now we have to wait 4 years(or something like that... I'm not a Constitution buff) before they can appeal it. That may never happen anyways at the rate president Bush is turning Missourians into democrat-voters.

Eck Tequila

What an awesome weekend. I was at the game Friday night and it was simply amazing. I forgot my camera but I did get some pictures with my new phone(see left, with eyes closed). The place went crazy, I went crazy, and it lasted until the wee hours of the night. It was like nobody wanted to go home. I was in the park until after 1AM and didn't actually get home until after 3. People were running and frolicking up and down the streets high-fiving strangers, honking their horns, and anything to keep the moment going. What a night for St. Louis.

On top of that, I was able to get tickets to the Rally on Sunday. Myself, Katie, and 2 friends were sitting 10 rows from the field. I got a bunch of awesome pictures of the Cardinals players as they went around the field. You can view them via the links below:
